Solved trying to download REW SOLVED

Post by duder1982 »

Hello, I haven't done a whole lot of stuff with Linux Mint other than basic booting, and music play back. Everything seemed to work fine, now I am trying to download REW which if you are not familiar with it is a room equalizer software.

When I click on the link to download, I get a (Could not open the file /home/nick/Downloads/REW_linux_5_12(1).sh.) and under that it says "gedit has not been able to detect the character encoding. Please check that you are not trying to open a binary file. Select a character encoding from the menu and try again."

Is this something that needs to be done through the terminal menu. If so anybody know how.

Thanks

also I am running Linus Mint 17 mate.

Try this: Right click the file > Properties , and find the checkbox that makes the file 'executable' or 'allow to run as a program'.
