Jumping back and forth in xpdf

I'm still in search of a decent PDF reader for Linux, which maintains a jump list so that I can navigate back and forth (I know of acroread; and I don't want to use Okular). The default document reader is decent enough, but appallingly lacks jump list! My next best option is xpdf which can jump back and forth. But the trouble is that, say if I were to click an internal link and later go back (by default with b key), it doesn't return to where I was, but the previous location in the jump list. So that's also proving useless.

Does anyone know of any work around or even a better suggestion?

Do you want Acroread 9.0?

I'm not that unhappy with Acroread (I think it's 8.0), but I'd upgrade if possible.
