Could not download all repository indexes

Post by Omega3 »

GPG error: http://repo.steampowered.com precise InRelease: Clearsigned file isn't valid, got 'NODATA' (does the network require authentication?)
Steam program is operational and is updated to the latest. This error is from using the "software sources -> Maintenance -> Fix Merge List Problems -> Update Cache.

After checking with the software sources I had it to do another cache update:
Anyone have a clue as to what is happening with this?

Edit: When I put the url for the repository in my browser I get: Welcome to nginx!
Even when I just put the beginning part of the url I get the same. It doesn't ask for login or put anything on screen but that.

Suggestion: Check at the Steam website to see if they are having issues with their servers.

I'm getting the same errors about Steam. It is a problem with Steam not with Linux Mint.
Linux Mint 18.1 Cinnamon Edition 64-bit.
Intel Core i5-3570K CPU Clock Speeds: 1: 1645.679 MHz 2: 2296.992 MHz 3: 1642.093 MHz 4: 1604.375 MHz

Same PGP error with NODATA here, how else.

It's Steam's problem, but since it causes Mint's Update Manager (and apt-get update) to fail it sort of becomes a Linux Mint problem as well.

If anyone feels the need to update packages while Steam is acting up, go to Update Manager - Software sources - Additional repositories, unselect the Steam entries and update cache.

Go to Menu -> Administration -> Software Sources -> Additional Repositories, disable any Steam-related repos, then update the cache. I had this problem, but disabling those repos fixed it for me.

And they seem to be back up again and the repos can be re-enabled.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments ... _are_down/

http://repo.steampowered.com is down.
http://repo.steamstatic.com/ is down.

The Steam for Linux repositories have gone down, and have been replaced with the default nginx start page.

As a result of this, anybody that runs 'apt-get update' is unable to open their package manager because a html file was downloaded instead of the package list.

Just remove the two offending files from /var/lib/apt/lists to temporarily fix the problem.

This: http://pastebin.com/etifbu1f was downloaded to my computer instead of the package list that should have been downloaded.

Edit: Repos are working again as of 24/07 5:29PM GMT!
