I want to burn a DVD, but have been unsucessful. K3b says "can't determine size of resulting image", & the burn button in Brasero is greyed out. I even tried Tovid, but got an error message(I don't remember what it said). Any ideas?

Hi
Does this happen with all DVD,s or just one?
It can be caused by the name of the DVD if it has spaces in it.
for example MYD VD First, If so try renaming it.
Several threads here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=493540
Also Google: "can't determine size of resulting image" gives many pages

If you are running Mint 6 Main Edition use Synaptic and remove your current version of Brasero and install the version found here.

I had the same problems with DVDs until I installed 0.8.4, now I can burn a DVD and the plugins are now working!

I installed it, but it won't let me burn.... It said something about plugins. What do I do?

If the plugins are the problem, try turning them off and see what happens.

You need to post what version of Mint and desktop environment you are running. The newer version of Brasero fixes the problem for most. You need to provide more details so we can help you.

I'm using Felicia, main edition, & the latest version of Brasero (0.8.4).

Hi all,
what is all this "bump" business about. I understood that once you had posted your question it would remain available for everyone to see. Bumping seems to only serve to up your post counts.
Can I just make some "bumps" so that I can get onto a higher level as soon as possible please.????
Best regards Keith

It's just a way of moving the thread to the top, so it gets more attention.... If you (or anyone) can help me with my original question I'd appreciate it!

Make sure all the names of the files you wish to burn are written in latin characters!

I don't use Brasero instead I use k3b. Try k3b again and make sure the image is created before you do the burn. Basically, check the create image box and see what happens. What kind of DVD is this? Is it data or a video dvd? How big is the image that you are trying to create? Are you able to burn other DVDs?

I do want to use k3b, but it doesn't work. None of the programs I've tried work. I want to burn a video DVD, to view on my TV with my DVD player. I attempted to burn 3 avi files, that are fairly small. I obviously can't burn other DVDs if the program gives me an error message....
