cannot remove Simple Todo list

I have been searching for a basic, simple todo list, which I can use to pass todo list info between my LG G2 android phone and my linux mint 17.1 64 bit desktop computer. One of the possible programs I came upon, which I thought might do the trick was the ukolovnik simple todo list program from the Mint repos. I did the install and then afterwards, when it asked for access to parts of my system, which I didn't think I necessarily wanted to approve, I decided to remove ukolivnik. It keeps showing up however in Mint Updates asking for permission to get approvals. When I try to do a removal or complete removal via Synaptic, the process stalls and I get an error msg 10. My questions are: Considering I don't want to use the "cloud" ever and I don't want to risk personal info loss (afraid of identity theft), is ukolovnik safe, is there a better alternative for my situation and assuming that I do need to remove ukolivnik, how do I go about completely removing it, so that it doesn't ask to be further advanced via the mint updates program? My ultimate need are as follows: I have been keeping a continually updated todo list on openoffice and now libreoffice writer for a number of years. I would like to be able to transfer or syncronize my todo list between my desktop computer and my cell without using the cloud and be able to move items up and down in the list as I go. Other than that maybe the option of grouping items in a few separate groups, but that's not a must. All I want is to be able to maintain a simple day to day todo list with a few yearly recurring items. The first item on my list though, unless I am wrong, is to completely remove ukolovnik.

While I can't say I've ever heard of ukolovnik, the following ought to help you remove it:

1. Use the terminal to remove any of the ukolovnik program & packages it installed:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get remove ukolovnik*
2. Clean up any old packages & dependencies not in use

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get autoremove
See if that does the trick for you?
Not sure about a "to do" list app that wouldn't require some kind of cloud sync - - unless you're willing to plug your phone in/do a file transfer back & forth between your phone & PC?

Read up a bit more on ukolovnik, and it actually seems like the type of program you'd want, if you wanted automatic synchronization. Basically, it runs on a MySQL database with a PHP front-end. Presumably, you'd have to install PHP & MySQL on your desktop system, and set your system up as a limited web server. You could then connect to your desktop via a browser and run the program. Is it completely cloud-free? No. But you *can* add multiple layers of authentication/passwords, change the port, and even set it to only allow your phone's specific MAC address... which would get you about as secure as you possibly could be over a wireless connection. Short of that, transferring a file back & forth seems to be about the only option if that's still not secure enough.

Thanks for the reply. No joy yet I'm afraid. Here's the result.

Code: Select all

x@x1 ~ $ sudo apt-get remove ukolovnik*

Well, if that didn't do it for you, then you could try:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get remove --auto-remove ukolovnik
sudo apt-get purge --auto-remove ukolovnik
There are the following dependencies which are required when installing ukolovnik. If you continue to have issues, you can try to uninstall each of these individually as well:

Code: Select all

php5-mysql
libapache2-mod-php5
apache2
dbconfig-common
debconf
If that still doesn't work, you can always try to reinstall ukolovnik first before removing it. That should somewhat "reset" the list of files to be uninstalled and allow uninstallation to work correctly.

That was a messy experience. Tried the command line suggestions but no joy. Finally got it removed after two attempts to reinstall and then remove via synaptic. The process kept hanging at the "configure database" stage. I had been unable to do regular system updates, since the update manager was insisting, that I sort out ukolovnik first. All's well again. Many thanks for the suggestions ralplpcr. Now to find a simple todo list that I can be happy with.

Glad you finally got it removed properly. Not sure why the database configuration was hanging up for you, but at least it's now resolved.

Best of luck in finding a "to do" app that suits your needs!
