Make sure that under

Code: Select all

Edit -> Preferences -> Extensions
you have the Lyrics extension activated.

Make sure the content pane is visible

Code: Select all

View -> Content Pane
In the content pane at the bottom of the main banshee windows you can select the content to be shown from the icon on the right. There you will find the lycics. I have varying success. Some of the lyrics you would bet are available cannot be found.

Good luck!

PS: maybe you need to install the package "banshee-extension-lyrics"?

my problem is:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install banshee-extension-lyrics
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package banshee-extension-lyrics is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'banshee-extension-lyrics' has no installation candidate
i found in a ubuntu forum that
banshee-extension-lyrics is not available in Ubuntu 14.04. See bug #1268331 - "banshee-community-extensions demoted to -proposed, not ready for gtk3"
another one wrote:
For me the "old" package still works with Ubuntu 14.04 despite of error messages. However, having it installed, it "blocks" any updates until the lyrics extension is uninstalled again. That is not a desirable situation, so I have to following workaround: 1) install the "old" extension 2) start banshee (with the extension enabled) 3) uninstall the extension; banshee continues to work with the extension until you restart it

I automated this with the following script (start_banshee.sh):

Code: Select all

#! /bin/bash
sudo dpkg --install ~/Downloads/banshee-extension-lyrics_2.4.0-2ubuntu1_all.deb
banshee > /dev/null 2>&1 &
sleep 20
echo Y | sudo apt-get -f install
(i know that l.mint 17.2 is based on ubuntu 14.04)

so those informations were of july 2014, but i suppose that the problem persists.. which version of banshee have you got?

Sorry, I'm currently running Debian Testing and have LMDE2 installed as well but not the Ubuntu based Mint version. What I gave you were the package names of Debian but I assumed the Ubuntu base is the same.

I have banshee 2.6.2 installed (on Debian Testing though) with the lyrics extension v2.4.
Check if there is a common extension pack available for banshee, maybe that will allow you to get the lyrics extension. Otherwise, I don't know.

If lyrics are so important to you and banshee doesn't do the job, why don't you get a different media player?

Cheers!
