Wine not working

I have a triple boot system-Windows 7/MintKDE 17.2 64/Netrunner 64
For some reason Wine does not work any more.
When I try to config wine The cursor will not show inside the menu
only on the frame of the menu ?
This just happened but was not due to an update of Wine
On Netrunner I don't have this problem and both Mint and Netrunner
are running KDE.
I prefer Mint but if I can not solve the problem, will look for another
distro
Thanks for any help !

start your Windows program via Wine.
then do:

Code: Select all

cd ~/.wine/drive_c/your-windows-program
is there a log file?
what does it say?

what graphics driver do you use? Might the graphics driver interfere with the cursor while inside Wine? Maybe graphics are not relevant? Only bringing it up to bring attention to all possible areas?

I am using Nvidia-340 driver and it has been in use before the problem arose.I believe that it is related to an update I did and is why I
included the apt.history.log
Hope this helps
If you need more info let me know and will try to supply it
I am not a complete newbe but also not an expert

When I try to config wine The cursor will not show inside the menu
only on the frame of the menu ?
What menu?

How are you trying to configure wine? WIth winecfg?

What does this show in a terminal:

Code: Select all

winecfg
What does this show in a terminal:

Code: Select all

wine --version
What happens when you:

Code: Select all

cd /to/some/windows/exe/file
wine filename.exe
here is my apt.history.log :
Did you mean the /var/log/apt/history.log file?

FWIW, mine doesn't show any 'wine' entries either, even though wine is installed and working fine.

something else that I might like to bring up but when you enter your Mint menu and access pointer options, what do you have there? Under Mouse>Pointer Speed and Size, is there anything unusual? Under Mouse>General what do you have enabled there?
If you are using a laptop, under Touchpad>General, is there anything unusual?

I am just wondering if accessing and changing gsettings would work. I have no idea if this will work for your cursor.

Code: Select all

gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.cursor active false

do you have dconf-editor installed? If you do, what does it say when you go to this path within the dconf-editor application (assuming you are using Cinnamon, that is)

Code: Select all

org.cinnamon.settings-daemon.plugins.cursor

wine --version[/code}

wine-1.6.2

What happens when you:

do not have pointer speed and size settings option
nothing unusual. there have right handed/single-click/change pointer shape over icons
on a tower not laptop

my Mint is using KDE for the gui
tried cinnamon on Vmware player and did not like
Thanks !

I just installed Q4Wine/winetricks and Q4Wine opened the 1 program I use the most :)
Will try more and see what happens !
