Meld, Unison sync etc [SOLVED]

Hiya, I'm comparing two music libraries maybe 500Gb each. I know there were some problems during transfer.

Meld crashes it seems, Unison is scanning each file and taking far far too long, I just want to do a "filename" comparison rather than "exact data" comparison.

Should I be using the diff command or can meld/unison be set to only compare text filenames as it were (ignoring extension is fine too). So i'll need to put a switch on the end of the diff command but I'll look around for this.

I'm only interested in the differences so in Meld I didn;t have "same" ticked. No such option in Unison, it takes 3 seconds to scan each song in unison and there are thousands. Meld freezes as soon as I start to scroll down.

Thanks
Nathan

It's "?" in song titles that it's having a problem with it seems.

":" is a problem too, as soon as i delete these from the filename it works, a pain doing it all manually though but hey ho

In Meld preferences I put:

Tick - compare files based only on size and timestamp

File filter - media only ticked

Encoding, deleted text in box

much faster etc

Goddamit maybe brackets too. Ah well, manually removing these characters in certain songs

definitely """ which is a quotation mark " in quotation marks

Update, kind of, just wait a long while and meld came good in the end, patience it seems. Limiting the number of directories to compare in one go will always help (split collection into sub folders, compare in turn, then re-assemble).
