Avidemux broken mpeg (solved)

Post by Octavian » Mon Nov 02, 2015 5:18 am

I have been trying to get Avidmux to save without crashing. I finally did it but it either spits out a broken mpeg or it spits out an mpeg without the change in frame rate. I kind of think I am doing something wrong. I think the real questions is; "How do I apply the frame rate to stick to the video even after its been saved?"

There's a selection of encodings (video and sound) and container on the left. The default option on them is "Copy", which is meant to leave things as they are in the original. Are you selecting new encodings or leaving them on "Copy"?

If you are selecting something else, I don't know what else you suggest.

I tried using avidemux to change to a low frame rate (something like 2fps) and it never worked right.

I just tried it with 4fps. (OP = xvid in avi)

Play output with smplayer: location bar didn't move, looked OK at first but the sound gradually got more out of sync (a very common avidemux problem, unfortunately).

Play output with vlc: location bar moved, sound was very choppy/un-listenable, and then the audio ended long before the video did.

So yeah, it didn't work right.
