You can test it out here: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2015 ... .html?_r=0

Launch Firefox & type about:config on the address bar, enter.
Search for media.fragmented-mp4.enabled and set the valut to false

Hello, floweringmind.

As crash versus no crash for you depends on whether media.fragmented-mp4.enabled is true (default => crash for you) or false (no crash for you), should the problem not occur on Firefox 43.0 on any Mint platform provided the default setting media.fragmented-mp4.enabled = true is used?

I ask, because here on Linux Mint 13 64-bit Cinnamon and Firefox 43.0 no crash occurred when I viewed the linked webpage http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2015 ... .html?_r=0. And media.fragmented-mp4.enabled is true here.

media.fragmented-mp4.enabled is also true here, using Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon 64-bit. The website works fine.

Firefox 43 uses FFmpeg to video playback instead of gstreamer. Possibly your graphics card driver has an issue together with FFmpeg. That's all I can think of.
