Postby kindofabuzz » Fri Jan 30, 2009 8:26 pm

fresh install of Mint. When I run mintInstall I get an error, hitting refresh does not fix it. here's the error: The data used by mintInstall is corrupted or out of date. Click on refresh to fix the problem : Unrecognized image file format

Perhaps deleting the XML file would help. You can use Nautilus to do this. The file in question is located in your home directory, under the .linuxmint sub-directory. The complete path is /home/yourloginname/.linuxmint/mintInstall/tmp/xml. Make sure Nautilus is set to show hidden files and folders, or you will not see the .linuxmint directory.

If that does not do the trick, try deleting mintInstall's tmp directory. And if still no joy, there is no other way I have to offer except purging and reinstalling mintInstall:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get purge mintinstall; sudo apt-get mintinstall

Hope that helps.

neither method worked, still getting the error.

edit: I deleted ~/.linuxmint/mintInstall and everything works now.
