Corrupted Thumbnails in Nautilus

Postby cjbarnes » Sat Jan 31, 2009 6:51 pm

Hi,
I am a recent convert from Intrepid to Mint 6, and loving it.
I have seen a number of issues that have appeared for me in Intrepid and have been able to resolve then in the same way. But!!! there is one niggling minor issue that did not occur in Intrepid that I am seeing in Mint 6.

Thumbnails generated in Nautilus for many Video files appear to be corrupted, I have not been able to find any similar cases in google or this forum so I am not sure if it is just my installation or if anyone else getting this.

This issue occurs for most Video files to varying degrees, but not all. I have attached a couple of samples.

Any help, suggestions, or pointers would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Craig

Nautilus stores thumbnails in .thumbnails directory.
Delete all thumbnails in the .thumbnails folder in your home folder.
Nautilus will recreate thumbnails . May be it will solve your problem.
P.S Do not delete the folders.Delete only .png files.

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried this but it's no different.

I had a thought that it may have something to do with Video Codecs, found a package in the repos called ffmpegthumbnailer (wild stab in the dark I know), installing this had no effect.

Anyone know what nautilus uses to generate video thumbnails?

Cheers

Craig
