Silverlight has stopped working on Google Chrome from March 1st. I have Pipelight and Wine Silverlight Installer 5.1 already installed and it worked OK for over a year. There is a prompt on Google saying that it will not support this version of Linux (17.1). I have tried to reinstall Google Chrome but a 404 error appears. I know Silverlight is redundant software but my company insists on its use.

Re: Google Chrome and silverlight
I don't know if this is related to your problem or not, but Google is ending support for Chrome in 32 bit operating systems. Are you running a 32 bit OS?

Are you using a 32-bit version of Mint? I know that Google pulled the plug on 32-bit versions, as well as Windows XP and Vista.

Yes I am running a 32bit OS
Re: Google Chrome and silverlight
If you want to keep Chrome, you will have to switch to 64-bit version of Linux. As far as Google is concerned, 32-bit is something of the past. And I can't blame them.
To the best of my knowledge Chromium will still be available in 32-bit versions.
