Is it OK to delete file contents of Evolution email cache ?

Post by wpshooter »

Is there any harm in deleting the file (not the folder itself) contents of the following folder which contains storage of trash emails deleted from Evolution email application ?

/home/home user name/.local/share/evolution/mail/usernamedfolder/cache

Thanks.

Cache is a form of memory, in this buffered memory on a disc to retrieve data quicker. But cache is also a temporary form of memory meant only for buffering data. I'm not quite sure but my best guess is that you can delete that cache. But before do it manually, check the Evolution configuration menu first if there's an option to clear cache, most probably while exiting the program.

This is not MEMORY cache but DATA that is stored at that location on the hard drive under the cache FOLDER.

There is no parameter in Evolution (or at least not that I can find) for clearing this cached data at program exit or at any other time.

Thanks.

Yes, I moved the file contents to the operating system TRASH, and program still works just fine.

Thanks.
