Makerbot / Makerware 3D Softwarre

Post by peterling »

Hi all,

Cannot install this nice thingy here which works perfect in Ubuntu.

https://support.makerbot.com/learn/make ... inux_11262

I ran into missing packages problems. Is that solvable somehow? I did not force installation cuz I thought it might break my system.

Maybe I could recompile this thingy for mint?

Thanks for any support!
Kernel: 4.15.0-20-generic x86_64 (64 bit) - Desktop: Cinnamon 19 Distro: Linux Mint 19 Tara

Is it for Unity desktop, or is it for all Linux desktops?
I run both Windows 10 and Linux Mint 18 in dual boot with two SSDs and have other rigs running various versions of Linux. My blog.

Thanks for replying!

This soft is for Ubuntu cuz the additional packages that needs to be installed are not in Mate repos.

I assume it is for Unity but I managed to install it under KDE too. But I could not in Mint Mate 17.3 (rosa)

I have no idea. Have you Google'd and looked on Reddit?

I googled like hell  and tried to find the source file to build the package myself but so far I was unsuccessful. Reddit is new to me ( :?: ) Do the offer software too?

I just noticed that they write a lot about the makerbot.

Yeah Reddit is your friend. It seems to have a large community of people that know stuff. Geeks helping other geeks, like here, only bigger. I never paid it too much attention until I needed some info, and it had the answer right there, whereas Google was showing me unrelated stuff from years ago.
