Seagate 1TB partition help

I have one of these and am having trouble getting the full partition of 1TB back.
I had a problem with my pc and linux mint wouldnt load so decided to reinstall but mistakenly chose the seagate expansion drive to load the linux mint onto
I have since re installed linux mint 18 onto my hard drive so its working now but when I look at the volume on the seagate it has changed it to only 560 gb on the drive and another partition of 440 gb which I presume was for the mint 18 which I dont need
I have installed Gparted from the software thingy on mint but im confused as I thought I could just click on the 560 gb and drag it over to get rid of the 440gb partition or isnt this possible

Please post the result of the Boot Info Script.
Boot Mint and install boot-info-script:

Then run the script:

sudo bootinfoscript --stdout | pastebin

Post the resulting URL link that displays in the terminal.

Thank you for the reply I might not have explained properly..my hard drive on pc is fine and its booting great just need help with my portable seagate drive it doesnt boot from that just need to get my 1 tb back on that ..wouldnt the thing you suggest doing put the details on the hard drive on pc which is fine...

gparted is capable of deleting or re-sizing partitions, but, of course, you (and I) need to know which partition is which.
To get started, if you don't want to run the Boot Info Script (does not make any changes, you can post the result of:

sudo lsblk -o model,name,size,fstype,label,uuid,mountpoint

On a side note: there is nothing wrong with having Mint installed to the external drive in addition to the internal drive. That gives you a "rescue" drive, if you need it.

ok I have been messing about with gparted last night and couldnt get to grips with it I need the green bit saying seagate covering all of it as it has partioned it so I need to get rid of the 440 gb bit i will do the sudo thing now

Your screenshot shows an empty extended partition. You can right-click on that in gparted and delete it.
You will then have 440GB of free (unallocated) space. What do you plan to do with that? Make a new partition(s)? Expand the size of the NTFS partition?
It sounds like you prefer to expand the size of the 560GB partition. I am not familiar with doing that to an NTFS partition using gparted. Maybe gparted can do that safely, maybe not. I don't have any NTFS partitions, and never have had.

There is no number 1
It is ls as in "list"

Click on SELECT ALL
Then copy the selection.

Sorry I can't be more helpful on the NTFS question. I have heard people say that gparted can handle that, but I don't know first-hand.

Attach the drive to a Windows machine. Then expand the 560 GB partition with the Windows tool. NTFS is a proprietary Windows / Microsoft file system.
