Adobe Reader 8 and Helvetica fonts

Post by rdonnelly »

I have me Sprint bill emailed to me. When I try to open it with acroread I get the following error

"cannot find or create the font 'helvetica' "

Most of the text is displayed as dots.

When I open the same file with Evince, all is fine? Just an annoyance, but if some one knows the answer it would be helpful.

Someone at sprint assumes all people have mac fonts installed. Adobe is enforcing the font, rather than skipping to the next alternative.
Your other PDF reader chooses the next , so it displays on your screen.
