Libreoffice installed from software manager fails to start

Post by finfly » Tue Dec 20, 2016 6:44 am

Hi all,

long story short, I have had some problems with Zotero, Java and Libreoffice. Latest incarnation was crash of Libreoffice when trying to access advanced options after updating to Zotero 5 beta. My instinct solution was to reinstall Libre. This did not help, and after some more reinstalls and fiddling around the Libreoffice failed to start completely. When I try to run Libre from terminal I get following error:

Code: Select all

/usr/lib/libreoffice/program/oosplash: error while loading shared libraries: libuno_sal.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Internet said I should use

Code: Select all

 locate libuno_sal.so,
so the results from it:

Code: Select all

 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libuno_sal.so.3
Another reinstall of Libreoffice from default sources or default tricks of removing profiles did not solve it. I've tried to use terminal and to install Libre metapackege. Only by installing deb package from Libreoffice site I got it working. While I have working solution, I'd like to have Libre back under default update control, and I am also missing nice looking mint theme on it.
