Can't write to application folder" Vuze program"solved"

Postby spider » Sun Apr 05, 2009 4:13 pm

Everytime I start the app for Vuze I get this error "Can't write to application folder"

The folder "/usr/lib/vuze" is not writable
This will prevent future software updates from being applied.
please see the wiki for details http://www.azureuswiki.com/index.php/Failed_Update

Computer specs:

Linux Mint release 6 felicia
Kernel: Linux 2.6.27-7 generic
Gnome: 2.24.1

Hardware:
Memory 2gb
CPU:pentium 4 3gb
Maxtor Hard drive 80gb
Nvidia 6200 AGP display card

it does give me a website to go to but I don't understand those commands.
if I have to use the shell. can someone please give me a step-by step answer.

Thanks again!

I'm unsure what Vuze is. By if you are unable to write to the directory i can help you with that.

Code: Select all

sudo mkdir /usr/lib/vuze
sudo chmod 775 -Rv /usr/lib/vuze

but anyway, updates on linux are usually provided with apt-get, you have little reason to manually update azerous.

the website mentioned making the file execuitable. Browse to azureus directory.

Code: Select all

chmod +x ./updateAzureus

HI grimdestripador , I put a check mark on the box and it didn't show up anymore.

so far it seems to be working good and I haven't seen any strange errors yet.

Thanks again! :D
