Openjdk/Iced Tea update 7u131-2-6-9 : Safe to deploy?

Post by expat_tony »

My update manager says the latest version is not authenticated.
Seems odd considering how upfront their websites are about who's responsible for what.
Is it the real thing?

Hello, expat_tony.

Actually, if you accept an install an unauthenticated software package, chances are - however small they may be - you get a software package which is not the genuine one.
The openjdk software packages originate from the Ubuntu software repositories. So authentication should always work. Except for cases where a temporary technical problem prevents authentication from working for a limited period of time.
Therefore I suggest to refresh the list of available software packages in update manager and see whether it works today without complaint.

openjdk 7u131-2.6.9 arrived here yesterday. No problems authenticating the software packages.

Regards,
Karl

Thanks Karl, I did what you suggested and it all worked fine. So I suppose it was one of those temporary technical problems you mentioned.
