I found the GitHub page ... https://github.com/linuxmint/mint4win ... and it hasn't been updated for years.

In Linux, unlike Windows, you can't install a 5 year old program and expect it to work. I wouldn't TOUCH that.

I understand, but is there an alternative like wubi/uefi?

Or, is it possible to install linux mint on a loop device onto a ntfs disk, and place the bootloader on a usb flash?

That WAS wubi. As richyrich says, just test the live CD from a USB stick boot and then install normally if you like what you see.

Hello, DareDevil73.
Is it a Mint4Win which works along Windows 10?
This might be the solution which you are looking for: Wubiuefi
Please, note:
I have never tried Wubiuefi myself. So I cannot tell whether it works well or not.

Best regards,
Karl
