Installing Gnome Recipes in Mint 18.2 Cinnamon

Post by Oldbwl »

I have tried Gourmet and it is clunky and with bugs and apparently no longer developed, I have also used Krecipes which is close to what I want. There is not much else to try. Is it at all possible to install Gnome Recipes, preferably without having to change DE?

Hi "Oldbwl",

Yum! GNOME Recipes is a New Cooking App for Linux
A collaborative cookbook whose cuisine is curated by you, December 7, 2016
- installation instructions using "flatpak" - install the flatpak PPA first. Should work with any edition of Linux Mint 18.x.

A Look at GNOME Recipes

Hope this helps ...

Ok, I wasn't sure that Flatpak would work, but I will backup and then give it a go, thanks

Hi "Oldbwl",

You are welcome.

From those articles, it looks like it should install and work in Cinnamon, Mate, perhaps Xfce.
To use this on Ubuntu you need to a) have Flatpak PPA added/installed, and b) have the latest stable GNOME runtime configured/installed.
But, I tried it in my Linux Mint KDE 18.1 system and it does not work for me. It will not install this "gnome-recipes" flatpak. This package might require a newer version of Gnome which the instructions also have, but I am not willing to install that in this version of my KDE system.

I even downloaded the GPG keys for stable and nightly Flatpak versions, imported them and changed their "trust" values, and I still get that GPG error.

And, as you pointed out "Krecipes" works very well too...
