Internet Browsers Redirecting
So I noticed something today that I have not seen in the past, when I attempt to go to google.com, I am redirected to google.com.ua.
I'm not sure what the issue could be, but would appreciate any help figuring it out. It doesn't seem to affect any other websites, but it is a little unnerving to me.
I've tried using both firefox and chrome, both yield the same result, if that helps at all.

Re: Internet Browsers Redirecting
ua is Ukraine.
Do you live there?
or do you use another service (vpn / proxy) that gives you an Ukrainian ip address?

Re: Internet Browsers Redirecting
I do not live there, and I do have a VPN service, but its linked to the US right now.
Re: Internet Browsers Redirecting
That worked, but no offense, it seems like a bandage rather than a cure. Trying to figure out that the underlying issue is that is causing this redirect so I can fix it.
Re: Internet Browsers Redirecting
It has to be based on your public IP address as google will redirect you to a "local" google.com version if you appear to be in a different country
Re: Internet Browsers Redirecting
Next time when it redirects you, go to http://ipinfo.io/ to check the details of your ip address.
Re: Internet Browsers Redirecting
Just happened, and all the little advertisements are with a .ua url... IP address details say New York though.
Re: Internet Browsers Redirecting
I was able to reproduce what you say. IP from New York but google redirects to google.com.ua.
Do you use the VPN service of the Opera web browser?

Re: Internet Browsers Redirecting
No, I was using SurfEasy VPN and Chrome as well as Firefox... it hasn't happened in a while though.
Re: Internet Browsers Redirecting
On March 2015, Opera Software acquired the Canadian VPN company, SurfEasy and later integrated the SurfEasy VPN into Opera as a free and unlimited service for its users.Dan Stinnett wrote:No, I was using SurfEasy VPN and Chrome as well as Firefox... it hasn't happened in a while though.
