Make an extension to mimic Aero Glass effect

Post by DrAlexander »

I know there's an extension that mimics compiz's wobbly windows effect but how that was made to work within' cinnamon!?!

so here's what I'm thinking of attempting or get support to build it as I have no know how to use whatever the extensions uses and make it work with any cinnamon desktop version, I'm thinking trying to mimic Compiz's transparent windows title bar and borders there's that one that makes the window transparent while dragging but how that was done to do that? I've got so many questions on how the mimicked wobbly windows extension had worked and what not....I'm not sure if it can be done as a extension.

I'm not sure where this would fit in the fourm so I just add it here.

The wobbly windows extensions is not dependent on Compiz. It is written from the ground up for Cinnamon. The source code for the wobbly windows extension is found here: https://github.com/linuxmint/cinnamon-s ... echeye.net. You could start by studying that to see what makes it work.

There is some information for developing extensions on the developer website and on the wiki:

I see, it's gonna be tricky to mimic the glass by studying the opacity one and know how that tells the cinnamon window manager to be aero glassed and have settings to one's taste of their own aero glass effect.
