I'm running Mint 18.2 KDE.
For the first time in many years I can't get K3b to copy dvds. I thought I installed all the codecs. But it doesn't work.
What is needed to copy dvds with K3b or Brasero?

What are you trying to copy? Format, ETC.
Some formats will not allow copying without being ripped first.

at the minimum you'll need to install the restricted codecs if you haven't done that already.
check and be sure you've installed
Also you may need to install
Handbrake is also a good tool to use.
Good luck.

Code: Select all
ubuntu-restricted-extras and ubuntu-restricted-addons
Code: Select all
libdvdcss2
Good luck.

Thanks, the restricted extras weren't installed, now they are. The others were installed.

Hi "vinoman",
I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well.
It would help to know more about your system setup. If you run "inxi -Fxzd" and "lsusb" from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough information.
The copying of discs depends upon what type of discs they are, are they home made discs made on another operating system, or are they your movie discs that you purchased and want to make backup or digital copies of?
I would also install "udf-tools" from the "Synaptic Package Manager (SPM)"
With applications like the superb "K3b", I highly recommend installing all the recommended and suggested packages from the "Synaptic Package Manager (SPM)". For Linux Mint Cinnamon, Mate, and Xfce users, I would also recommend installing "kde-runtime" which is safe to do.
Hope this helps ...

Is there enough room into K3b's temp folder?
Code: Select all
