linux mint serena super slow and lags

Post by hatq » Thu Nov 09, 2017 12:39 pm

I'm pretty new to linux, so if this is the wrong place for this question, tell me where it should go please.

I used a lenovo think pad and have linux mint serena 18.1 mate 64-bit and using it since about two months. it now became so slow that i can't use my computer properly:
-typing lags and takes forever
-mouse reaction takes for ever
- every click takes for ever: typing this text means that i type a word and then wait for several seconds for the word to appear on the screen.
- computer also became super loud (fan)

what can i do? please explain in normal english :) i know how to use a terminal, but i don't know any fancy tech language..

It could be caused by any number of things, but typing inxi -Fxz -t c -x into the terminal and posting the output should make it easier for others to help you with this.

Manjaro MATE - MX Linux - LMDE MATE
