F3 to search next

So, after several decades of F3 = "find next" in various DOS and Winderz programs, I can't find a single Linux text editor that supports it... or supports configuring a shortcut for it. I'm sure this question has been asked before, however, "F3" and "search" aren't searchable terms on any forum, so I'm stuck bothering you all. Is there a graphical gnome / cinnamon (but I'd find a way to work with anything) that uses F3 for "search next" or support a custom shortcut for "search next"?
