Image writer
Are there any image writers? .img and .iso or just .img

not exactly sure what your asking. and what you want to do.
but I've used gnome-multi-writer in the past with good success on .iso's
I now normally just use the command line dd command it's quick and easy once you learn the commands.
of course there is alway unetbootin and others. Image-writer is installed in 18.3 not sure about 18.2.

P.S also etcher may work for you found here : https://etcher.io
