Re: Another firefox version question
57 should be available as an upgrade from update manager.
Don't think its in the software manager as of yet but will come as a part of Mint 18.3 by default.
It you don't have firefox currently installed grab the one from software manager then follow the upgrade path...... going on posts 57 is very Marmite so bare that in mind before installing. Still waiting on a lot of legacy extensions to be upgraded.

Re: Another firefox version question
Hello, opale7000.
Are you using a de-supported Linux Mint release perhaps? - Anything older than Mint 17.x is de-supported.
What else could be the reason that you are stuck on Firefox 50.02, which has been superseded by newer Firefox versions on all supported Linux Mint releases?
Update Manager has offered the update to Firefox 57.0 on all of my Mint 17.x and Mint 18.x systems.
There is absolutely no reason to wait for Mint 18.3 in order to update Firefox to version 57.0.
Your browser is one of main attack vectors whenever you are connected to the internet. You should urgently update to Firefox 57.0.
Regards,
Karl

I'm with Karl. Update Manager should have offered you the upgrade, and it's important that you accept that offer. It did on all my computers, and I installed it. Which Mint version are you using?

Re: Another firefox version question
I'm on Mint 18.2 yet FF is at 50.0.2? I use Update Manager almost daily. Is there a guide for me to follow so I can update manually? Software manager reports that FF is install with details of:
Version 50.0.2+linuxmint1+serena
I'm in Canada however could it be my mirror is not up to date?

Hello, opale7000.
Maybe there is really a problem with mirror servers where your Mint system queries the software repositories.
In order to get an idea whether this is the case, the screen output of 3 terminal commands would be helpful.
Please, open a terminal application.
Execute the commandline Mark the complete screen output. Copy it and paste it into the next reply.

No I have not put FF on the ignore list. But thanks for trying. I have uninstalled FF via Software Manager downloaded FF ver 57 from Firefox and launch it manually. At least it is a workable solution until mint 18.3karlchen wrote:Hello, opale7000.

I went one step further. I have reinstalled FF 50 via Software manager. I launched from terminal and copied the downloaded firefox 57 into /usr/lib/firefox and voila I am at FF 57.
