Installing Packet Tracer is a straight forward process. I extracted to files and directories from the tar.gz file. In the terminal I navigated to the packet tracer directory and ran

Code: Select all

./install
Packet Tracer installed with all of the defaults but when I run the command packettracer in the terminal the following happens.

Code: Select all

bryan@MelliniumFalcon ~ $ packettracer
Starting Packet Tracer 7.1
bryan@MelliniumFalcon ~ $

Nothing happens, I am currently running Linux Mint MATE 18.2. I had been running Packet Tracer on KDE but in order for packet tracer to run I had to uninstall kde4. This was fine until I installed and update. When an update was in stalled kde4 was reinstalled. That is why I switched to the MATE desktop environment. What is stopping Packet Tracer from running?

I got into load on my laptop with 7.1 but can't on my desktop and i used same process. I think some how it is missing dependencies when you download the tar file. I still haven't found the fix but maybe try installing and earlier version. I did have 6.3 working on my desktop but had to remove it because at school was using 7.1.1 so it would t open my Homework.. I wish they could package it in the software manager for Download.
