vlc media player problem and solution

Problem:file *.avi standard media player mint don't play and way change media player standard with vlc media player don't work
Solution:uninstall standard media player after that vlc media player stay only one

I have also problem in that time that no icon volume at the bottom line.Recommendation in internet that i found don't worked and for change volume i do this using Control Center.
After I ended set VLC media player in "Open with" in Properties of .avi file icon volume sound returned at the bottom line
I shall be glad if this topic help somebody
