Anbox install problem

Post by verhooo » Wed Dec 06, 2017 4:50 pm

Hey, i use linux mint 18.2 cinnamon 64bit
I wanted to use android apps and I found Anbox.
As the tutorial said I executed:
$ snap install --classic anbox-installer && anbox-installer
then as root i wanted to install it
$ sudo anbox-installer

but it gave me this message :

PLEASE NOTE: This script will require root access on your system
to install all necessary things. It will prompt you to enter your
password when required.

ERROR: Don't run the anbox-installer as root or via sudo. Simply
invoke it with your regular user. The script will use sudo
on its own when needed.
When i run it without sudo it says command not found.
any ideas?

I got the same issue ... (it is a snap issue)

First install snap with:
sudo apt-get install snapd

Then you have to RESTART the computer so that snap PATH is updated in the system
after that your command should run fine until the end ....
snap install --classic anbox-installer && anbox-installer

Once installed correctly, I will be interested in your final results. For me it did not work:

on one terminal you have to launch:
anbox session-manager

then you let your terminal open and you can launch anbox with the LinuxMint menu ... or with the following command on an other terminal (to have more logs):
anbox launch --package=org.anbox.appmgr --component=org.anbox.appmgr.AppViewActivity

That is for the theory.
For me nothing happens (I suspect apparmor to block the "discussion" between the session-manager and the anbox environment)

Good luck and do not hesitate to post a reply on your achievement 8)

I got anbox to launch but clicking the Icon for the apps doesn't do anything. Does it require a touchscreen instead of the mouse?
