bi-directional copying virtual box

Post by stormschip » Thu Dec 07, 2017 7:51 am

experienced no bi-directional copying from host to guest in virtual box. Native linux xfce 18.2 and vb is xfce 18.3 beta. When i am copying text from host 18.2 to clipboard i can't paste it into the vb image 18.3 beta xfce.
Also from 18.3 beta to 18.2 the same not possible. Virtual Box 5.0.40

Copying what? If you mean the clipbard, you have to activate it either from the settings for the VM or the devices menu of the running VM.

I would assume the OP means drag-and-drop, for which your comment is equally valid.

FWIW, I seem to recall having had trouble with drag-and-drop in version 5.0.40 (the repo version). Works fine in 5.1.30, though.

I wouldn't. Bi-directional copying applies to both copy/paste and drag/drop.

Really? Both are bi-directional? I had no idea. Thank God you're here!

OP, you are apparently paying for your internet usage by the word, but it might nevertheless be helpful to elaborate a little bit.
