eating memory

hello.
after upgrading to cinnamon 18.3 my "cinnamon" will not stop hugging memory, after a 4 days its up to close to 70% memory usage witch it will not dump.

and at times when i scroll my browser my "webcontent" will hug CPU usage like H ( to say it nice ).

i dont know if this i caused by VLC or not, but after i upgraded my VLC started to "hang" a few sec when i watching a video, it freezes the pic but not the sound and then resumes, this can happen several times during a video.

is there enny one else who have the same/experienced this problem?
i upgraded from 18.2 to 18.3 with no problem ( during upgrade )
or is there some one who have a solution to this?

well after a few days cinnamon will stil not dump the memory usage down.
and i stil get hangs on videos when watching them.
to get memory usage down on cinnamon i have to reboot.

What extra applets or desklets have you installed in your Cinnamon? Those are the usual suspects....

kodi ( but not used in over 3 months )
a weather app
and a screen shot app

and i just "purged" ( few mins before typing this ) some old kernels ( from another tread you did comment in ) but there are loads of headers stil there ( have not rebooted after purging witch i will be doing after posting this ).

Applets, extensions and desklets are usually hungry of RAM.
I solved removing all of them, reducing windows effects and other cool esthetic elements and if used RAM by Cinnamon grows up I restart it (right clic on the panel, Select Troubleshoot > Restart Cinnamon).

i have to reboot daily to do so.
i did not have this problem under 18.2
this is the first time since 17.0 that i have had problem with cinnamon not dumping/freeing up from the memory.
from version 18.2 and down i could have my pc on for weeks with out enny problem.
and every thing is up to date.

Hi,

You didn't identify the cause of the memory leak, so it's hard to propose a solution.

That said, you don't need to reboot... you can restart Cinnamon even without stopping the session. Press Alt+F2, type r and press Enter. This will restart the Cinnamon process within the same session.

well for a person who do not know much about linux exept the newb basic so to say its hard for me to know what to look for.
is there a command to see where in cinnamon to look for a "list" so to say?
like list what processes under cinnamon witch is active for ex?

the only file/place i can find that will not dump the memory is "cinnamon -- replace" file.
as show in this screen shot
