what is the most stable version kodi to install on LM18 32 bit

Post by juicer »

I can't recall why I ended up installing Kodi 15 on my current Linux Mint 18 32 bit or purposely disabled updates (I think kodi 17 was hanging on my weakling core 2 duo) but I would now like to upgrade to Kodi 17 if possible since some of the newer dependencies won't work on Kodi 15.
I want to archive the old version until I am sure of Kodi 17.x so I thought I could just rename the .kodi folder and do the install but when I follow the wiki, I get errors and the new kodi won't load.
Is it enough to just rename the existing .kodi or should I remove it to a usb stick for safe keeping and clear everything "kodi' from the system and then do an install of 17 from synaptic?
