How do I make custom file manager "emblems"

Post by Tallone55 » Sun Dec 10, 2017 9:21 am

In file managers like nemo and thunar you can right-click on a folder, select properties, then emblems.
I know it's possible to add icons to this list because I've done it before, but I can't remember where the files go and how they're referenced.
I've been searching for a while and I've come up empty. Anyone know how?

Right click the file/folder > go to "properties".
Now do not go to the "Emblems" card, but stick with "Basic". Click the icon on the left (next to name / type). This will give you the option to select an alternative icon for your file / folder.

Notebook: Linux Mint 18.3 (Cinnamon x64), Lenovo E470 (Intel Core i3-7100U / Intel HD Graphics 620)

This works to change the entire folder icon (in nemo). My question however was on how to add emblems such that the folder remains recognizable as a folder. Emblems are the small icons which sit on the folders.

Thanks for the advice! Not quite the answer I'm looking for though.
