Gimp 2.8 themes

I'm running 18.3 Cinnamon with the current kernel.

When I tried to use the downloaded Gimp themes Gimp will crash and go back to the default theme? I've tried the themes in the usr/share/gimp/2.0/themes also and still get the crash.

I am looking at LM Cinnamon 18.3 and Gimp 2.8.16 and I don't see any additional packages for gimp themes in the std repos.
In Gimp, if I go to Edit -> Preferences -> Theme, I only see the Default and Small themes.
What is the package name or where did you get the Gimp Themes?

Sometimes when you start a program from the command line (in this case type gimp), an error message will be written to the console (stdout/stderr) that might indicate what the problem is.

Here are a couple of good web links with instructions for installing themes. Although these articles pertain to using themes for making Gimp look like and work like Photoshop, their installation instructions should work for other Gimp themes as well.

Tip Note: If you have to rename or use a different hidden Gimp configuration folder (.gimp-2.8 ), then you might have to copy anything you added (plugins, brushes, etc...) from the original Gimp folder to the new Gimp folders respectively, and restart Gimp.

I got the PS one to work. Pretty cool indeed. Some of the other themes just won't run without crashing GIMP. No biggy, I like the PS theme

I have the same problem as Pepi. I have the same dark themes as shown in your post. These themes work perfectly with my machines running LM18.2 xfce but they cause GIMP to crash when using my new machine running LM18.3 Cinnamon.
I found these themes from a post on this forum but I'm not sure where to find it now. My version of GIMP is 2.8.16.
Does anyone know of a dark theme that will work with LM18.3 Cinnamon?

Not sure if this will work with Cinnamon as I am using Mate 18.3 but it might be worth a try. There is a link to the theme in the second post http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=13728

Caz's theme does work with Cinnamon but some text is virtually the same colour as the background and is difficult to read. Apart from that it looks nice.
