Has anyone install flatpak on LM 17.3?

I have run updated software distributed as an appimage on LM 17.3.

I was going to try software distributed as a flatpak. Step 1 was make sure flatpak is supported

I went to https://flatpak.org/getting.html and for linux mint and ubuntu it said:

Looks like flatpak doesn't support Ubuntu 14.04 (on which Linux Mint 17.x are based):

It's a loop, isn't it You need/want to run more current apps, which have dependencies, but the package system, flatpak in this case, has dependencies too, so you can't run more current apps.... until you upgrade your system to get the dependencies that are required to run flatpak... by then I won't need flatpak because I've updated my base system

I've run krita and scribus appimages successfully on lm 17.3.

It's a problem that will ultimately solve itself: Linux Mint 17.3 is supported till April 2019 and eventually you'll have to upgrade to 18.3 or 19.x. Don't forget 18.3 is using Ubuntu 16.04 as a package base so that is also software already almost 2 years old. Flatpak has a use on that as well.
