Re: XMIND 8 - 64bits - Instalation
The tutorials you have seen are most probably for older Xmind versions, which have .deb installation file: http://www.xmind.net/download/previous/
In the link just below the Download button for 8 edition is explained that there are some user interface issues with Ubuntu 16.04 (on which Linux Mint 18 is based): http://www.xmind.net/blog/en/2016/11/ui ... ntu-16-04/

I am also trying to install xmind - now on Mint 19
I was previously using xmind 7 on Mint 18.3 but then my hard disc failed so I had to do a complete reinstall
No matter how I do it there seems to be errors and so far none of the online tutorials seem to help, not even ones for Ubuntu16.04

Re: XMIND 8 - 64bits - Instalation
I think the OP should read those links, but frankly if there's no .deb any more for ubuntu, which is the biggest distro, and they explain it the way they do, I think this is just another program with inadequate Linux support. I wouldn't expect miracles.silfox2000 wrote: ⤴Sun Dec 17, 2017 12:22 pm The tutorials you have seen are most probably for older Xmind versions, which have .deb installation file: http://www.xmind.net/download/previous/

Brilliant thx-1138 the first suggestion works for me on Mint 19 and Xmind 8 update 7 (64 bit)!
To summarise, the fix was to add
I can almost understand what this does, but I don't know why it was necessary
