My favorite for backing up the DATA partition is grsync (a gui frontend for rsync).

[RESOLVED: using Grsync instead!] Déjà Dup installed in 18.2 KDE, but fails to launch
Back again, folks! Since my last posting, I have been doing much research on alternatives to Déjà Dup, both for backups and copy/paste file and directory transfers. I have decided to go with Grsync, as per austin.texas's kind recommendation and as described in his excellent tutorial. Thanks, Dan! I found it most useful, although actually I do have a few Grsync-specific queries which I shall be raising in a separate Mint post, lest I be reprimanded by the Mods for going off-topic!austin.texas wrote: ⤴Mon Feb 12, 2018 7:23 pmMy favorite for backing up the DATA partition is grsync (a gui frontend for rsync).
So, in the interim, my grateful thanks to yourself (austin.texas), and also to fungus, phd21, Hoser Rob, Joe2Shoe and jglen490 for your most helpful, collective kind inputs.
FOOTNOTE: Another replacement for Déjà Dup well worth considering is the little-known German Ukopp programme, which can be used for copying and backing-up files to an external hard disk drive or a USB memory stick. For anyone interested, Ukopp version 6.6 can be downloaded from here.
Thanks again, folks!
