[SOLVED] Install openscad from their repository

Post by matm » Sat Jan 13, 2018 6:50 pm

Hello

I am using Mint 18.3, and saw that openscad from Ubuntu is quite old.
One solution is to use their downloads page where they provide a Ubuntu 16.04 deb line:

Code: Select all

deb http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/t-paul/xUbuntu_16.04/ ./
When I add it to the list, and update the cache, it only shows the i386 package version? When I mark it to be installed, it is broken (most probably because 32-bit libraires are not there).
When you browse the repo, you can see there is an amd64 version of the package.
Is there a way to make synaptic aware of the amd64 package, or is there a change to bring into their repository ?

Thanks for your help.

Mathias

It appears to me that the current stable version of OpenSCAD is 15.03, which is the version offered in the repositories.
One solution is to use their downloads page where they provide a Ubuntu 16.04 deb line:
Those instructions are for the development version. If that is what you are after, I suggest you first try the AppImage that is also available from the downloads page. It launched for me without issue.
