[Guide] How to get DRM content working on Linux Mint 18.3 - MATE

Post by Vidiot_X »

Howdy,

I have just recently installed Mint 18.3 MATE (Sylvia) and initially could not get DRM content to play on HULU. The following solved the issue for Firefox Quantom 57.0.4:
1. Install flash. I used the version from Adobe's website but you can also use the version available in package manager.
2. Enable DRM content. Firefox should ask you to enable it when you go to Hulu or another DRM content website. You can also enable it via Firefox preferences.
3. Install the VLC media player. I could not get DRM content to play even with installing flash and enabling DRM content. Installing VLC got it working (thank you askubuntu) as it must add what's missing software wise. Be sure to exit and relaunch Firefox.

To Install VLC open terminal and enter:
sudo apt-get install vlc

This got me playing DRM content on HULU. Good luck!
