I tried to find that in the store but not there so I did a simple search and found it. Here is a link.

If you don't want to pile on too may extensions the method linked in the OP is probably better. Either way, good tip.

Thanks KalEl. I see on that link that many browsers besides Chrome have this extension. I tried both of the methods suggested above and they both worked. I am delighted to be rid of those annoying videos. :D

hi kalel...and ozo...and hoser rob...when i went to find "disable html5 autoplay" i got this message..."NOTICE...this extension is currently unmaintained"...so needless to say i have removed this ext...to bad since it really worked well for a few years...i hope someone with enough knowledge picks up this ext. since it is being offered for someone else to support it...i am now using kalel's solution to the problem...thank you ozo for the link just so i could check it out...i would not have noticed this without your link...many thanks guys...DAMIEN

Hi guys.

I got all excited and tried that on my newsfeed, but it stops the video from loading, even when it is deactivated, so I took it off again.
My newsfeed now works normally. Shame, though.

hi ceilidh2...try this instead...been testing this all afternoon and seems to work flawlessly...be aware that youtube and vimeo are whitelisted but if your there your listening anyways...ps...to enable html5 play, look at the upper left hand corner of whatever their video player is...it will say something like click to play/enable etc...the box will be in red...DAMIEN

About extensions by which I understood
Extensions all have a SINGLE ONE default option
I am not an advanced user but I can see in all of them a single option in common.
Well if they all have this option by default it's because it should be important

which is this seems to me that is really important

the option :

Prevent WebRTC from leaking local IP address *

I had to resort to this option to stop the videos. Even though it is unsupported it works.

This option worked for me previously but now does not.
chrome://flags/#autoplay-policy
