If you don't want to pile on too may extensions the method linked in the OP is probably better. Either way, good tip.DAMIEN1307 wrote:there is also an ext. in the chrome store called "disable html5 autoplay"...its a one click wonder that works...DAMIEN

Re: How to Prevent Videos from Autoplaying in Chrome
Thanks KalEl. I see on that link that many browsers besides Chrome have this extension. I tried both of the methods suggested above and they both worked. I am delighted to be rid of those annoying videos.
Re: How to Prevent Videos from Autoplaying in Chrome
hi kalel...and ozo...and hoser rob...when i went to find "disable html5 autoplay" i got this message..."NOTICE...this extension is currently unmaintained"...so needless to say i have removed this ext...to bad since it really worked well for a few years...i hope someone with enough knowledge picks up this ext. since it is being offered for someone else to support it...i am now using kalel's solution to the problem...thank you ozo for the link just so i could check it out...i would not have noticed this without your link...many thanks guys...DAMIEN
Re: How to Prevent Videos from Autoplaying in Chrome
Hi guys.
I got all excited and tried that on my newsfeed, but it stops the video from loading, even when it is deactivated, so I took it off again.
My newsfeed now works normally. Shame, though.

Re: How to Prevent Videos from Autoplaying in Chrome
hi ceilidh2...try this instead...been testing this all afternoon and seems to work flawlessly...be aware that youtube and vimeo are whitelisted but if your there your listening anyways...ps...to enable html5 play, look at the upper left hand corner of whatever their video player is...it will say something like click to play/enable etc...the box will be in red...DAMIEN
Re: How to Prevent Videos from Autoplaying in Chrome
There are 3 three tutorials now here are the addresses
the 2 first two on video and the last on html5

https://www.howtogeek.com/341690/how-to ... n-firefox/
https://www.howtogeek.com/227669/how-to ... b-browser/
About extensions by which I understood
Extensions all have a SINGLE ONE default option
I am not an advanced user but I can see in all of them a single option in common.
Well if they all have this option by default it's because it should be important
which is this seems to me that is really important
the option :
Prevent WebRTC from leaking local IP address *
