Cinnamon networking icon bugged out (even after reboot), can't remove/modify it in edit mode.

Here's a video showcasing the issue: https://streamable.com/czx11

Trying to remove it since it's useless in my case (24/7 line to my PC... no need to have it taking up space) but it doesn't seem to be letting me. The icon used to be white too but after I tried removing it the first time it got stuck in this state
Have tried rebooting.

Numix desktop theme & Numix circle icons (tried both light and dark, no change)

Thank you! :)

What does "bugged out" mean?

Is the problem that you can't remove the network icon ?

See if "root" might own some file(s) that you can't change

Code: Select all

find $HOME ! -user $USER
You might want to disable "nm-applet" for that sort of connection - it's responsible for a network icon on my system.
Please edit your original post title to include [SOLVED] if/when it is solved!
Your data and OS are backed up....right?
Mint 18.3 Xfce/fluxbox/pulse-less
Xubuntu 17.10/fluxbox/pulse-less

I linked a video showing what I meant by bugged out, but basically if I disable nm-applet in Cinnamon it reappears with an inverted color and the inability to move it or anything.
So yeah it can't be removed fully

Here's the output of the command you gave:

Code: Select all

/home/username/.gvfs
find: ‘/home/username/.gvfs’: Permission denied
/home/username/.cache/dconf
find: ‘/home/username/.cache/dconf’: Permission denied
/home/username/.config/gedit
/home/username/.config/gedit/accels
/home/username/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/thunar.xml
Thank you :) @Flemur
