Soundconverter FAIL - it's not seeing the files I want to convert

Post by Pat D »

Have this old iPod touch and I've tried using "Soundconverter" on .mp3 files so that accursed iTunes will accept them - it refuses to see 10% of them. Couldn't find a Windows program to do it on the VM either. Baffled as to why the conversion programs can't find these files, but they play just fine. (And trying to search these forums for .mp3 or aac, with or without quotes didn't work.)
Any thoughts?

Are the files named somesong.mp3, or just somesong? I made a copy of an mp3 file I have on my computer, but didn't include the .mp3 file name extension. Soundconverter did not see it. Rename any that don't have the .mp3 extension to add that. (Linux recognizes file types without the extension, but apparently Soundconverter doesn't.)
