Wiki-notes

Post by Carstenihm »

Hi, nOOb here, I'm looking for a wiki notetaking program for Mint Cinnamon 32 bit (on an elderly x61)- wouldn't mind one that's generating html and/or is stored online (got the server outthere) or on G-drive (via insync) so I can work on different *nix's

I've been using Zimwiki, love it but it may be dead ?

Tried to install Tiddlywiki via this https://tiddlywiki.com/static/Installin ... de.js.html - didn't work, hell of a lot of errors in there when I ran this in the Terminal: sudo npm install -g tiddlywiki.

Any ideas to what went wrong or any input to software ?

Btw: can't seem to find any wiki editing tool to Android (?)

Not sure, but maybe Cherrytree can be something you will find interesting. It can be installed via Software Manager. You could read about it here: http://www.giuspen.com/cherrytree/

Thanks, Marziano, gave Cherrytree a go way back, didn't think it was as 'intuitive' as Zimwiki, but it's getting a lot of praise - may give it a try again :-)

You might already have looked at this https://alternativeto.net/software/zim- ... ktop-wiki/. If not, it may give you some other alternatives to Zim.
Hope you will find one that suits your needs.
Cheers

Yes, I did know it, have been looking again and decided to give it a go again with Zimwiki, but I'm still interested in any hints especially to any Android wiki-editor app you might know to cope with .zim-files

Zimwiki have some simple templates/themes for homepages and the 'internal wikilinks' work so with insync to Synchronicity between divide and Markdown I guess I'll be good, just need to be able to work from my Android phone too

Yeah, thanks, but not much happening for Zim there for almost for years and I don't really think the alternatives fit the purposes, but maybe I should try some for a longer periode, for instance Cherrytree, lots of people like it although some (wiki-) things is missing there it seems - and why don't anyone see the possibilities in making an app for crossplatform Wiki-notes work, seems to me it's obvious that it's a hell of a thing

Obsidian! Markdown, local storing or whatever, I'm using Google Drive. Inline tagging, inline internal or external links, lots of plugins, cross platform (yes, all platforms I think)....

It is far from dead, and one of the best wiki apps available. I use the flatpak, which features the latest version.
