[Solved] Dropbox Menu Tray Not Appearing In the Panel of LM 18.3

Post by Lcn_Lin »

Dropbox application menu tray doesn't appear in the panel. I have LM 18.3 xfce. I changed the application autostart command.

I added this command to application autostart of the 'Session and Autostart settings.'

Code: Select all

dbus-launch dropbox start -i
Removed the default command "start -i". Then the Dropbox application tray appeared in the panel.

Surprisingly, with every boot the command start -i gets added in the application autostart list. The newly added command for a fixed start also stays in the application autostart list.

The issue of missing application menu tray reappears sometimes and Dropbox starts normally other times.

My question is how to remove the command causing the issue permanently so that Dropbox will start normally with every boot.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Lcn_Lin and welcome to Linux Mint Forums,

You need to go to Control Center then startup applications. in the list give delete the dropbox and write a new one with the command you posted.
if you edit or leave the original one in the list it will not work.
good Luck.

Hello kc1di. Thank you for the welcome and reply.
You need to go to Control Center then startup applications.
Can you please guide me how may I open Control Center in LM 18.3 xfce? So far I've tried from all settings --> Session and startup --> application autostart. I couldn't figure out Control center. I guess Settings option is the control center in Xfce. I have been removing the startup application command causing the problem again and again but as I said it gets added again.

Regards

you need to do the first command and get the dropox Icon to show, once you have it click on it and go to properties and uncheck the box that start dropbox automatically (or something like that, I don't have xfce intstalled at the moment so can tell you the exact wording) once you've done that go to the control center, xfce it's found in the main menu upper right corner. God to start up and delete the dropbox entry and add the command given in the former post.
that should do it.

Have done it already. Have added the right command. But the issue is that start-i gets added again with every boot.
