Installing GRASS geographic information system software

Postby Willem Steenis » Sat May 30, 2009 4:05 am

Hi Mint supporters!

I'm brand new in the Linux world so forgive me if I'm asking some silly questions......
The Mint 7 is actually the best Linux distribution I have seen since a year..... so thats great! It beats XP for me.
But I want to install GRASS, this software is especially for Geografic Information analysis and necessary to work on my system.
Tried to install, no errors and it is on the system.... but how to start GRASS .... :-(

thanks in advance
Willem

Normally if an application/program does not appear in your main menu you can just type the name in a terminal.
ie:

Code: Select all

grass

Make sure to use the actual installed name of the program that the system will call it by whether it is "grass" or something similar.

Like the program "gimp" would simply be

Code: Select all

gimp
to start the program/app.

And welcome to Mint forums!
