Thunderbird 52.6.0 folder names changing colour when new emails arrive

Post by ZenPath » Mon Mar 19, 2018 4:37 am

Hi everyone

Bit of a strange one here. LM 18.3 Mate, using TB 52.6.0.

When a new email arrives, the folder name in the left hand folder pane goes white rather than black. The font is still bold, but just white. This is for IMAP and POP accounts. This doesn't happen on my second machine with the same set up, so I must've inadvertently changed a setting on the first machine. I've been searching the web for the last few hours and can find nothing that works. There are several suggestions to set up some kind of chrome css, but as I have not used one I just want TB to revert to the good old bog standard of changing the folder name/ title to bold black when a new email drops into it.

Any suggestions or ideas on how to revert back?

Cheers

Open menu -> help -> restart with deactivated add-ons.

Hi Cosmo

I should've mentioned that I did do that via the command line:

/usr/bin/thunderbird -safe-mode

and no change. I'm pretty certain therefore that it's not an add-on issue.

Perhaps this page gives a hint, what you have changed.

Hi (again) Cosmo

Thanks for following up on this.

As noted in the OP, as I never had a chrome css in the first place, I do not understand what has happened that would now require me to generate a css to serve as a solution. I had come across the post you referred to, along with several like it, and if that is what it takes then so be it. However, the logic of this fails me: if TB did not have a css initially, then why would it need to have one now to fix a cosmetic change that I have obviously accidentally triggered?

I'd like to poll other users' input before going down this road, so happy to entertain other thoughts if you have any.

Cheers
