How to play / record Blu-ray ( software needed? )

Post by Frldyz »

MSI GTX 970 gpu

Crucial 16gb DDR3 RAM

PNY 120gb SSG

Gigabyte gaming 3 MOBO

Noctua NH-d14 heat sink

LG Black 16X BD-R 2X BD-RE 16X DVD+R 5X DVD-RAM 12X BD-ROM 4MB Cache SATA Blu-ray Burner WH16NS40
computer 1 and 2 Win 7 64 bit ( laptops - Toshiba AMD processors maybe 3-6 years old / Best Buy $300 or less )

Computer 3: Win. 10 64bit SSD # 1

Linux Mint 18.3 SSD #2

-------------------------------------------------------

The only times I use my optical drive is for installing software.

1) How can I go about watching / burning DVD movies?

2) How do I go about watching / burning Blu-ray DVD?

3) Is there special software I need in order to do this?

*** 3a) I do have VLC installed in all computers.

**** 3b) I also have Wondershare ultimate video convertor. ( except on Linux Mint )

3) Will quality be lost by burning? ie: resolution of the DVD / Blu -ray be worse if burned?

4) Exactly what types of discs will I need?

5) If software is needed: What is the easiest / most basic to use to achieve this?

Thanks everyone.

For playing, you need MakeMKV - it is available in the Mint software center. There are two files, makemkv-bin and makemkv-oss.

You need to install both, then go the forum and get the registration key.

www.makemkv.com

EDIT: My bad, necro-post. :(
